As an employer you need to give your employee an employment contract (written statement) if you are employing someone for more than one month. PC Payroll have an in-house lawyer who can create an employment contract tailored to your personal circumstances and includes legal advice for the duration of each contract.
The Employment Rights (Employment Particulars and Paid Annual Leave (Amendment)) Regulations 2018 – came into force on 6 April 2019 (and takes effect from April 2020), it implements parts of the Government’s Good Work Plan.
As an employer the main implications are:
The need to provide your new employee an employment contract on day one of employment.
An increase in the amount of information such an employment contract must contain.
All employees are entitled to an itemised pay statement every month.

As an employer you have a legal duty to take out employer’s liability insurance and to provide a safe workplace for your employee. An employee may have an accident or become ill whilst at work and deem it to be your fault and seek compensation for their losses. You must display the insurance certificate in the workplace or make it available to employees upon request.
