Help with Setting up a Nanny Agency

So, if you are thinking of starting up a nanny agency, what do you need to consider?

5 things to consider when setting up a nanny agency

If you are thinking of starting up a nanny agency, what do you need to consider?

1

Are you going to trade as a sole trader or a limited company? You will have to way up the pros and cons of both.

2

What are you going to name your business? If trading as a limited company, check at Companies House that your chosen name hasn’t been taken.

3

Investigate your tax responsibilities including VAT, income, corporate and other business taxes. If you estimate that you will earn in excess of £80,000 then you will need to register with HMRC for VAT.

4

Will you be employing others, either as nannies or to help you run the business? If so, then you will need to set up a PAYE scheme? If you need help with this, please speak to our payroll team.

5

On what terms are you going to be trading? You will need to have terms in place between you and your clients so it is clear your and their legal responsibilities are. Equally you will need terms between you and your candidates so that your relationship with them is set out from the beginning.

“I started my childcare agency last year. It was my first time running a nanny agency or any business at all. After contacting a few solicitors, Sarah-Jane at PCPayroll & Legal was recommended to me. Not only was Sarah-Jane much more reasonable than the other solicitors but completely understood what I needed. Sarah-Jane Is also only an email away. She has been incredibly kind, patient and helpful with my constant questions and requests. I would highly recommend Sarah-Jane and PC Payroll & Legal.”
